Cerebral Palsy Claims
Cerebral palsy is the name for a group of lifelong conditions that affect movement and co-ordination. It is caused by a problem with the brain that develops before birth. It can be caused by infection during pregnancy, lack of oxygen to the brain, abnormal development or restricted growth.
There are different types of cerebral palsy and different severities. Therefore, the prognosis for a child born with cerebral palsy can be different. Some children may go on to lead a relatively normal and independent life, whereas others could be severely disabled and require life-long care.
A delay in deliver which restrictions oxygen to the brain is one of the more common ways that cerebral palsy can occur as a result of negligence. If the baby is not monitored correctly or becomes stuck in the birth canal for too long before action is taken this is negligent treatment by the medical professionals.
