Intellectual Property
The need for concise and accurate Intellectual Property advice is essential to most businesses, large or small.
We can advise on design rights, database rights, copyright, patents and trademarks. We also assist in the preparation and negotiation of licences and assignments, to enable our clients to profit from licensing other companies to use their technology, data, products or services. We have particular expertise in the field of technology-based copyright and multimedia content agreements.
We have a large number of clients in the Information Technology sector, many of which are in software development. Much of our Information Technology work involves advising suppliers and purchasers on system supply agreements, software development contracts, software licences and distribution agreements.
Case examples:
- We have been instrumental in the development of a Patent Portfolio Policy which evaluates the ongoing maintenance costs against the commercial value of a patent to maintain the most cost effective portfolio.
- We have helped a client build stop parallel imports through their global trademark rights.
- We have drafted various software licence agreements for a client which provides bank authorisation services.
