Family Associate Solicitor, La-Toyah Phillips has qualified as a Collaborative Family Lawyer - a huge achievement for both La-Toyah and the firm.
La-Toyah says,
“The Collaborative training reminded me of why I wanted to get into family law in the first place, to come alongside families and support them with my legal expertise and help them transition into their next chapter, I do not want to be a lawyer that adds more acrimony to an already heart breaking situation for the families involved…we are all people with human emotions. I think sometimes family lawyers forget this very important aspect.”
The Collaborative process is set out to help families reach an agreement faster than court. Both parties will appoint their lawyer, and everyone will meet together to work things out face to face. With both parties and their lawyers meeting together, it allows all four of you to work issues out collaboratively and away from the courts. Besides the lawyer, both sides will have the opportunity to work with a financial advisor, a family consultant, and a child specialist to ensure all aspects of the divorce are covered and resolved.
Partner and Head of Family Law, Rob Parker says,
“I am delighted that La-Toyah has completed her training as a collaborative family lawyer. Collaborative lawyers are specially qualified to conduct face-to-face round table meetings for separating couples to help them reach amicable arrangements for their children and finances. La-Toyah’s qualification enhances our firm’s range of services and strengthens our team’s commitment to helping our clients achieve a dignified and harmonious divorce, with the interests of the children front and centre of everything we do.”
