Amputation Claims: How We Can Assist

If you have had an amputation and you feel medical negligence was to blame, or this was caused due to an accident, you may have a right to claim compensation.

An amputation or loss of a limb through trauma or medical necessity is an extremely difficult thing to come to terms with and has a drastic impact on the victim’s life. However, if the loss of a limb was due to medical negligence this can leave a person also feeling extremely angry and distressed.

Some of the most common types of amputation compensation claims our lawyers assist with involve the following:

  • Medical Misdiagnosis
  • Failure to spot infections/treat infections
  • Road Accidents
  • Motorcycle Accidents
  • Cycle Accidents
  • Pedestrian Accidents
  • Accidents at work
  • Dangerous Machinery Accidents

Whether you have lost a limb through an accident or through medical negligence, our team of experienced lawyers can help you claim compensation for your injuries to ensure your best interests are looked after. This will always include seeking damages for your pain and suffering, along with consideration of any treatment / prosthetic requirements, adaptions to a home and garden, loss of earnings/alterations to employment and care. Ultimately, we will work hard to ensure that we achieve the best outcome to allow you and your family to move forward with your life.

Our medical negligence team have just successfully settled a complicated amputation claim on behalf of a client against a hospital trust. The claimant, who was a known diabetic, attended his local hospital on a number of occasions with ulcers and discolouration of his foot.  Unfortunately, despite it being clear that the circulation to the foot was compromised, treatment was not provided and a below the knee amputation was eventually required. Medical evidence was obtained which confirmed that there were clear failings to observe, diagnose and provide an urgent procedure to restore flow to the foot. The claim was admitted by the Trust and a very good settlement was negotiated on behalf of our client.

If you have concerns about medical treatment received or would like to discuss a personal injury claim, we have experts at Lamb Brooks who can speak to you in more detail about the next steps.
